Captain Robert E Clemitson Royal Artillery. Service 1939-1957

See Photo below his Japaneese POW record card.

Over 3 years as a prisoner in one of the worst POW camps of the World Wars.

Please have a read at this letter from one of my grandfathers comrades on the 50th aniversary of V.J Day back in 1995. The word HERO is batted about too frequently theese days. This letter gives a brief insight into the true heros.

My grandfathers reply

Dear Brian

Thank you for your letter, it is much appriciated. Though I do not let past memories affect present life too much, I do remember the others who never came back, alot were not as lucky as I.

Many thanks again for your understanding of the situation.

With best wishes for the future.

Bob
